One of a series of articles prepared for Galter Library's website on co-education in the medical school at Northwestern University. This article was posted during National Women's History Month in 2014, and honors the first four female Northwestern MD graduates following the initiation of co-education at the medical school in 1926. Features highlights about the lives and careers of: Verna Anne Christophel (1905-1973); Elizabeth Adrienne Sirmay (1899-1990); Edna May Ward (1906-1993); Vera Blanche Slagerman (1907-1994).
